Water sector and biodiversity – understand and shape the synergy between the two
As shown recently once again at COP28, nature conservation helps to mitigate climate change. Careful management of nature is strongly linked to water-related issues: Is wastewater being treated? Are water resources being used efficiently? How much water does agriculture require? All of this determines whether we can stop biodiversity loss. This is why it is important to understand and shape this synergy – to preserve nature and to pave the way for better climate protection.
Accordingly, the current issue of “Development in Brief” indicates areas where it is particularly worthwhile to take a concerted approach to the water sector and biodiversity.
