Digital technologies for access to sexual and reproductive health: learnings from the Covid-19 pandemic
Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) are part of human rights and include the right to information, free choice of contraceptive method, safe terminations of pregnancy and the right to access health services. In many countries of the global South, there were already restrictions as to the availability of these basic services before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, the crisis has also opened opportunities: digital technologies and innovative approaches have made a decisive contribution to maintaining healthcare provision and enabling or even improving people's access to basic SRHR services.
The current issue of "Development Research" highlights the developments and examines the questions: How can the experiences of the pandemic be used to shape the future of SRHR services? And what are the potentials and challenges?
