Climate risk in developing countries: What is the responsibility of the Global North?
As a result of anthropogenic climate change, the risks of extreme weather events and the costs of protecting against them have increased globally. Thanks to the findings of attribution theory, it is possible to differentiate between inherent climate variability and the consequences of anthropogenic climate change and to allocate the costs accordingly - with corresponding consequences for the loss and damage debate. This issue of Development in Brief provides an overview of the potential and limitations of the method.
