The project involves co-funding with the Royal Netherlands Embassy (RNE) and with funds from the Global Fund (GFATM) to further develop and extend the HIV/AIDS prevention and family planning programme, which has been run by the Social Marketing Agency PSI since 1993, into other rural regions. The programme comprised the development and marketing of contraceptives and – with the close involvement of the public health system – the implementation of outreach activities to improve the level of knowledge, attitudes and behaviour of the population with regard to HIV/AIDS prevention and family planning. The target group included risk groups such as lorry drivers and sex workers.
